Happy Birthday Dad

Even after sixteen long years
missing you still brings me to tears

A piece of me died that October day
when angels guided you far far away

I'm sure mom was there to welcome you home
in the place where God and celestial's roam

I know our time on earth is but brief
and seeing you again will bring me relief

Being your daughter was truly the best
our reunion on high will be a love fest

Until then dad, I bid you adieu
and wish a heart felt 'happy birthday' to you

  1. I don't think one ever stops missing one's parents once they have passed. The 'missing' hole lasts forever.

  16. The missing of a parent will never cease.. My father died 17 years ago... and yes sometimes I miss him... more to talk to than to hug I think...

  17. Isn't it crazy Bjorn-It really doesn't matter how much time goes by but the hole persist's. I miss my power talks with dad too. He and I and my twin sister had a really cool relationship. Thanks much for coming by Bjorn-My wish for you is you'll have that talk-whether in a dream or visit.

  18. I'm blessed to still have both my parents alive; I need to make the most of that while it lasts. It must be hard to have lost one or both of your parents, although it does come to us all in time.

  19. Wow are you ever blessed to have both parents. I was nine when I lost mom and 35 when I lost dad. Whenever someone complains about their mom and dad, I always tell them how lucky they are and some day they will miss them dearly. I think it helps them put things in perspective.

  22. My dad died 17 years ago yesterday, it gets less raw, but it's still terrible.
But I guess death is one step along the way.

  23. That's a good way to put it Pealogic. It's less raw but the missing never goes away. We'll all see each other again when it's time and it will be quite the celebration. I appreciate you coming by my blog :-)
