Beacon of Light

She listens to the steady pitter pat
on what is another dark and dreary day

Even the dogs tire of nature's tears

too wet to go outside for walk and play

Jazz rings out in the background

hoping to soothe a dampened soul

Melancholy dripping like raindrops

pulling me down a endless hole

Wringing me dry of energy and joy

 hopelessness winning this fight

Until  a beacon of light breaks through the fog

and darkness gives way to Open Link Night

  34. Linda, thanks for commenting at my blog, so I could find you here! This almost had a "Cat in the Hat" feel, what with the rain pouring down. But then that jazz started up and my toe began to tap... the kicker was the Open Link Night mention. I'll bet Brian was over the moon with that one!

Incidentally, I'm a member of Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, and we have an Open Link Monday, so please come over and post there, too, if you want, even if it's the same poem. Lovely writing! Amy
