Facade

He watched, waited and studied
for his possession yet to be

Like a leopard ready to pounce
this meal would set him free

Sinister were his intentions
charm would be the front

Peering from the forest
this beast was on the hunt

He finally found his victim
a beauty through and through

She took him at his word
believed his love was true

Soon the tales unraveled
she could read the clues

The darkness soon revealed
it was all a rouse

  1. ugh...that is rather haunting...its sad that there are people out there like this...and they will hurt those that care for them...or they trick too...ugh...nicely spun though...smiles.

  2. In my past this has happened ... sad yet but true
Far too many cruel people waiting only to _ _ _ _ you.

Dark indeed and such a great poem!

  3. Often it is the melancholy inspires one to find friendship with the written word. In the least somewhat consoling in that respect.

    Keep writing . . . you'll feel better.
