  4. Wow Brian-that was really quick-I feel so honored. I had a blast writing in the Cinquain form. I'm sitting at a restaurant and the music is perfect for inspiration. This tree in my pic is next door to my home. I love watching it bloom in all it's stages and beauty. Can't wait for spring in Minnesota.

  26. the smell
    from blooming tree
    her paling dress in spring
and soon see petals fill the air
    like snow

I really liked your cinquain... :-)

  27. This is a truly remarkable first cinquain. What is especially good is that you haven't allowed the constraints to stop you from considering other poetic devices like assonance and internal rhyme. All the 's' sounds give a soft feel to the opening - "senses" is a superb word choice to reinforce that; then the rhymed "ee" of tree/free me which gives a seans of yearning and desire as well as echoing "sweet".

And if that's not how you made your word choices, I'd stay quiet and let me believe my story :-)

  29. I used to have a tree in my back yard that looked quite similar to this beautiful tree. Sadly we lost it a few years back. I really want to plant a new one and after seeing your post I may make it a mission to plant one this upcoming spring.

  35. Hi rumoursofrhyme~I honestly just let that poem come from the inspiration of looking at the picture of the blossoms. I cannot take credit for the 's' sounds and subtle rhymes. It will be our secret that I'm really that good. LOL

  42. Now, this is such an interesting poem - the freeing by a tree-- and a majestic crab apple at that - I think one is freed by beauty, but here I think there could be a bit more - free me to be me as it were --crabby and majestic, full of fruit yet pretty darn individual - bitter sweet! Thanks, Linda k.
