My Journal
Sitting on the night stand
under soft glowing light
You whisper in my ear
enticing me to write
Your possibilities are endless
Blank pages spell delight
Your comfort like a blanket
transforms and holds me tight
Your allure of empty pages
beckons through the night
Tempting and seducing
my muse I cannot fight
Written for dVerse Poet's Pub

Oh, I keep thinking those blank pages won't be blank for long. They will soon be filled with wonderful words....poetry perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHi Mary-there is something so charming and comforting about my writing journal. I write down ideas, dreams, etc...Even in this age of technology, I still have to visit my journal.
Deletesmiles...
ReplyDeletei keep a notebook my nightstand...cause when i lay down
my thoughts start rolling...its good to capture your dreams
as well...
Yep-exactly Brian-If I don't keep it on my night stand, I'll forget the dreams or ideas by morning for sure. I just love everything about my journal. Like a safe place to come home to.
DeleteI relish my journals, too...and a new one! Nothing thrills quite like the anticipation--kind of like a new page of life, a new beginning. Nicely written.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's always fun to find a new journal to fill up. Thanks for coming by Victoria :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful journal, and with what beautiful feelings you write of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary-I do love the look of my journal. It's like a safe haven for me and it inspires my writing.
Deletenice... it's good to be able to capture the thoughts that roll in overnite... i have my iphone next to me and write mine down there... so i don't have to turn on the light...
ReplyDeleteI don't have an iphone yet so my Journal is it. LOL It is important for we writers to have a place to jot down all those ideas that come into our head.
DeleteWhat a lovely invitation from the journal, write & write ~
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace. It is indeed inviting and inspires my ideas and creative juices.
DeleteJournaling is such a meaningful thing to do. It clarifies ourselves to ourselves. I like the poem.
ReplyDeleteExactly Myrna-I like how you defined it. It really does clarify that we are here.
ReplyDeleteGot to love a journal, I know I do. It's like a companion and a friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a friend I've had since I was a kid. I always know it's there for me.
DeleteLovely write. I really liked the flow of your words. :-)
ReplyDelete-HA
I'm laughing at myself right now because I was trying to figure out why you would end your comment by laughing. Then I realized it HA stood for How Anxious. It's Sunday and my mind isn't working so good. LOL
DeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteI don't keep a dream journal, but my sister has (on and off) for years. Yours is beautiful by the way!
I don't have an aversion to them and think they're awesome tools, and would encourage folks to use them if I were ever asked about them.
Very neat post subject. I like it!
femme
Hi femme-how fun to see you here. I love my journal and like your sister, I've had mine off and on for years. I think I started writing in mine in 7th grade. Thanks for coming by.
ReplyDeleteOh the empty pages ... both an invitation and a curse... Myself I would write them on my mobile I think...
ReplyDeleteLOL Bjorn~I write in my journal but also on my lap top. I love my journal at the bed side for those thoughts that come to me at night. If I don't write them down, it's easily gone by morning.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem Linda. Why is it always the small hours that invite creativity through the door? An invitation and a curse indeed!
ReplyDeleteLOL-it is a curse-I am def more creative at night when I'm usually cozy under the covers.
DeleteEnjoyable poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gail-much appreciated.
